All funds raised during my ride across Australia went to either the Australian or New Zealand Heart Foundation depending on the donor’s wish.
It was a thrill to be named Best Individual Fund-raiser for 2011 by the Queensland Branch of the Australian Heart Foundation.
Special thanks to EVERYONE who supported my ride.

Day 28 - April 27th, 2011
REST DAY
Cobar (NSW)
REST DAY
Cobar (NSW)
Thank goodness for a wonderful relaxing rest day. Well - in the main it was relaxing!!
A wander "down-town" in the morning and while Pat was having a game of bowls at the Cobar RSL Club, I wandered into the Vinnie's store in search of some more cleaning rags for my bike. The kind lady there came up with some very suitable cloths which was great.
A quick grocery shop to stock up our "pataka" and get food for lunch and dinner and back to the camp, which had almost emptied out completely - save for 3 young travellers whose car had broken down short of Cobar. They had "abandonned" the car, and had hoped to bus back to Sydney today but the busses were full. So tomorrow they go!!
I spent the afternoon catching up on emails, phone calls and trying to update my website, while Pat went to the recently renovated Cobar Golf and Bowls Club hoping to win a "jackpot" on the pokies.
It is amazing to see how the camps fill up during the late afternoon, so by nightfall we had a whole selection of new neighbours.
The local newspaper, the Cobar Age contacted me and organised for a story and pic to be done in the morning before we leave!!
Pat returned from her gambling afternoon slightly ahead, but no jackpot!!
We continue to meet an interesting variety of people at the camps and most offer a lot of helpful advice. It is amazing how many offer that the roads are dead flat around here!!
Another thing that I have noticed out here - is how full of stars the night sky seems to be. Is this actually so - or do I go around with my eyes shut at niight-times and just plain don't notice? The nights here are pretty cool and crisp compared to the days - but the great thing is, not one day of rain yet on this journey!!
As we had visited mines etc on our last journey through Cobar, we stayed pretty close to the Caravan Park and "recovered" for the next days of this amazing journey!!
Today is the end of week 4 - two-thirds of the trip over already!!
The stats for this week are 753.47 kms this week, 5 days of biking for an average of 150.69 kms per day.
Total distance covered so far = 3358.44
I thought of that while riding my bike.
